- HQL: Take this class if you need the license required to purchase a firearm in Maryland.
- MD Wear and Carry (CCW): This class is for you if you need a permit to carry a firearm. Bonus—it also includes the HQL.

The MD CCW Permit Class provides the training and certification required to apply for a concealed carry permit, covering firearm safety, handling, and legal responsibilities.
In addition to your MD Wear and Carry Permit (CCW) we offer the following states as add ons: DMV Package includes DC and VA, and those in the Max Pass package- AZ, FL, UT, VA, PA
Your MD CCW Wear and Carry permit allows you to carry in 33 states in the US including these states that have reciprocity: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan (resident permit only), Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin. (plus other permitless carry states)

To be honest I didn't think I needed the beginner's handgun course since I've been to the range before. However it was a great refresher. The course provided the opportunity to use a simulator before going to the range which I appreciated . Now that I've been going to the range with Tony for a few months I must say he's great to work with. He's very encouraging and mindful of determining techniques that work for you. He's patient even when I'm feeling frustrated with myself. Though I own a firearm that was recommended I'm looking for another one that's more suitable for concealed carry. I'm able to try out several firearms to determine the best fit. Tony has definitely helped me build my confidence. I'd highly recommend him and Tribal Defense Academy.
Join the Tribe! Period. I finally decided that it was time to take self-defense and empowerment more seriously than I have in the past. For many years I depended on my husband (retired law enforcement) as my primary line of defense and protection. We are together a lot but not all the time. I need to be able to defend myself and feel confident when I move around without him. I was first introduced to the Tribe on Instagram. I’m so glad their ad popped up on my feed. I started out with the Women’s beginner course. This was a good decision. Shani did an excellent job helping us become more comfortable while introducing us to handgun basics as well as improving or enhancing our situational awareness skills. She even helps you figure out the best path forward to ensure you get what you need. Next I moved to a one-on-one private session at the range with Tony. I am also glad I did. I have never fired a handgun before and admittedly, I was a little nervous. Tony is an awesome instructor. He is personable and patient. He understands how to get you acclimated and build your confidence at the same time. He takes his time to walk you through every aspect of responsible use of the handgun while teaching you about the mechanics and proper technique. As a former trainer we learned that “telling ain’t training.” Just because you tell someone something doesn’t mean you’re teaching them anything. Tony is a pure trainer. It is also evident that he is passionate about what he does. My first session was so successful that I’m signing up for another to make sure to reinforce the good habits and practices I learned during the first session. Practice makes permanent. I had an amazing experience at the range! My instructor, Tony, made me feel comfortable and at ease from the very beginning. At first, I was a little startled by the loud sounds of others firing, but I quickly learned to block them out and focus. Tony was professional, respectful, and incredibly patient. He took the time to answer all of my questions and thoroughly explained each of the five firearms I had the opportunity to use. He guided me step-by-step—from how to properly pick up the weapon, to loading, stance, and trigger control—which made a huge difference in my confidence. I truly felt like I had the best instructor there. The Maryland Small Arms facility was clean, well-maintained, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. This experience has made me even more excited about purchasing my first firearm and continuing my training to become more comfortable and proficient.
